The design and construction process of the MZ office and showroom project involved several significant elements and considerations. The client's initial request was to create an office and showroom that would not only elevate their international brand but also provide a space for hosting customers. When we asked the brand owner about their desired space, they responded with keywords like minimal, photogenic, serene, and attention-grabbing. Furthermore, hearing the inspiring story of the female entrepreneur behind the brand, we decided to take on the project.

Located in a commercial building in Istanbul's fashionable Nişantaşı district, the showroom occupied a 55m2 space in shell and core condition. Upon our first visit, we envisioned creating surfaces within the space that would be ideal for in-house photoshoots, in line with the brand's brief.

To contrast with the texture of the building, we designed elements that worked both invitingly for users and consumers. The design approach was organic and layered, intentionally opposing the artificial elements and sharp perspectives of the surrounding building.

Simultaneously, we had a vision of maximizing the efficiency of this relatively small 55m2 area and making it appear more cohesive and spacious. We created curve surfaces throughout the entire space, ensuring seamless transitions between the ceiling, walls, and floor. However, due to the conventional shape of the space, this design concept mathematically reduced the usable area by about 4m2.

Nonetheless, the clever use of mirrors on the entire ceiling significantly enhanced the perception of depth and spaciousness in the 50.7m2 net area we designed. By using a single material and color selection for both the floor and ceiling in the continuous volume we created, we made the small area feel much larger than it actually was.

To emphasize the spatial dimensions and curves, we used dimmable LED lighting by detaching a section of the ceiling from the walls. At the center, we designed a single, large travertine worktable, which was meticulously shaped to follow the contours of the surrounding wall forms. This organic-shaped table served as the memory of the space.

Balancing the material palette, we used microtopping material for the floors, walls, and furniture throughout the space, while incorporating travertine and wood into the central table. We enriched the user's experience by integrating bookshelves, wardrobe archives, and a coffee corner, all finished with the same material and seamlessly blending with the overall space.

The semi-permeable glass defining the store's facade created an intentional contrast between the interior and exterior, contributing to the dynamic atmosphere. In conclusion, the MZ office and showroom project was designed and executed with a focus on minimalism, fluidity, sustainability, and creating a space for consumption beyond the current trend. It aimed to elevate the brand and offer a unique experience in an office setting.
